Unit – Understanding advertising – Class – VII

Topic – “Impact of advertisements at different levels of society”

(1.1)The Define Phase

        Gain a critical sense of impact of advertisements on peoples life and choices.

(1.11)Introduction:

·   Write a statement describing the overall purpose of the project.

·   What is the key challenge or problem the project is aiming to address?

• What are students intended to learn from the project?

This project is aimed to allow class VII students to  know more about the following topics.  1.      The link between media and advertisements 2.      Types of advertisements 3.      Different aspects of advertisements  4.      Impact on society  5.

(1.12)Project Scope:

Describe the scope of your project. This may include class and section, subjects it covers, self shills to be used etc. as well as other factors affecting scope.

2.1 Essential Question:

 Put in writing the question that will engage the students

1. What is the relationship between media and advertisements? 2. For advertising, what are the different medium used by the advertisers? 3. What is social media and social advertisement? 4. How does social media and advertisement affect younger generation and society ? 5. What is commercial advertisement. 6. What is the impact of commercial advertisement at the different levels of society? 7. How does an advertisement get made? 8. What is branding and brand value? 9. List 2 reasons why building brands is central to advertising? 10. Why should we be aware of influence of advertising as a citizen of democratic society?

2.2 Grouping Strategy:

 Describe the criteria that will be used to form students team and how this maps to the goals of the project.

Children are grouped on the basis of Creative thinking Self,social and cultural awareness Ability to sustain Problem solving Artistic skill

2.3 Learning Environment:

 Describe the learning environment for the project including any classroom adaptation that will be required.

The team will be provided with small working places in school library and computer lab where they can have the discussion

2.4 Assessment Approach:

Time period of 10 days for preparation of ppt, support material and class interaction: Peer supervision Chart presentation Power-point presentation

2.42 Formative Assessment:

The class was divided into 7 groups. Based on classroom presentation done by each group on the given topic.

2.43 Summative Assessment:

Create a chart of different products used in your daily life with the help of the collection of different types of wrappers and cuttings of advertisements share in the class.

3.1 Work Breakdown, Products and Milestones:

 List the project task and, if possible at this stage include the sub-tasks. For each task add the product that will be created and indicate it will be a milestone.

To create interest and positive attitude towards social science subject among class VII students, the following skills are adopted Collecting information on the give topic Observing and identifying the important content to be presented in the class Preparing the support material Distribution of work to individual members of the group to be presented in the class

3.2 Role definition:

 List the roles team members will fulfil in the project.
Project leader - teacher will fulfil this role Group leader - student leader of the group Advisor - will present team activities in the class All students will take active part in the presentation

3.3 Task schedule:
 Note start and end dates for the project.
 Include expected dates to start specific tasks
Project start date - 07/11/2016 Project end date - 10/12/2016

3.4 Special Activities Plan:
 List any special activities (e.g. Field trips or guest speakers) including dates.
Collection of cuttings of advertisements, wrappers of different products, information about advertising. 

3.5 Resource Plan:
List resource that will be required during the project and any other date constraints associated with them.
Video files, computer lab, library books, charts, newspapers, magazines.

3.6 Direct Instruction:
List any planned direct instruction sessions and link them to specific tasks if appropriate.

The Do Phase

(5.1) Project Launch:
 Describe how the project will be launched, including how goals, expectation, rules, procedures, assessment, and grading will be presented to the students.
The project will be launched as a group meeting with the whole class. Students will be invited to discuss. The final presentation will be displayed in the classroom as well as being posted in the blog Define, plan, do and review cycles will be discussed.

(5.2) Artifacts:
 List artifacts that will be created during the project

(5.3) Culminating product:
 Describe what culminating product or products are expected to be created during the project and how they will be presented.

The Review Phase

(6.1)Student Reflection and Evaluation:
 Describe how student reflection and evaluation will be conducted.
One lesson after the end of the project will be dedicated to student reflection and evaluation. Their reflection will cover what topics students learned about, what skills we learners, what we liked about the project, what we didn't like about the project and what we would do differently in the next project and evaluation form will be completed by each student as a homework assignment. A subsequent lesson will be used to discuss the observations made by the student

(6.2) Teacher Reflection and Evaluation:
 Describe how teacher reflection and evaluation will be conducted.
Prepare a teacher reflection and evaluation form to complete that covers Success Challanges Achievement of project goal What i learned What i would do differently next time

The Manage Phase

(7.1) Process Management:
 List tasks that will be used to manage the process of conducting the learning

(7.2) Student Preparation:
 Describe how students will be prepared for the project prior to launch. List any specific instruction or tasks that will be needed
The students will be told about the idea for the project 1 week before it starts. New ICT tools to be used before the project launch

(7.3)  Facilitation:
 Describe how facilitation of resources will be used to enable the students to be successful.
Use of library, computer equipment will be scheduled.

(7.4) Progress Monitoring:
 Describe how program will be monitored throughout the project.

 (7.5) Re-planning:
 Describe how ‘re-planning’ will be used if the project goes off track
By providing them additional time within the work plan time. Using homeworks to catch up if necessary

(7.6) Conflict Management:
 Describe how to address problems related to participation, offer approaches to manage other conflicts that may arise.
Team rules will be included in the project launch presentation. Students will be asked to initially try to work out conflicts on their own under the supervision of project leader. Lack of participation will be dealt with by giving an alternative individual tasks for the duration of the project or according to the level and interest of the student
